Summer Success for Mom Entrepreneurs: Balancing Business and Family Fun

Being a mom is a full-time job. Being an entrepreneur is a full-time job. Being a mom entrepreneur? Well, that’s a full-time job times two! And during the summer, it can feel like even more. With the kids out of school and the warm weather calling, it can be tough to stay focused on your business goals. But it is possible to have a successful summer—one where you make progress in your business and have plenty of fun with your family.

Identifying Your Successful Summer

The first step is to get clear on what a successful summer looks like for you. What are your business goals? What do you want to achieve? Do you want to launch a new product or service? Increase your income? Maybe you just want to maintain your current level of business while also enjoying some time off.

It’s also important to think about what you want your family life to look like this summer. What kind of activities do you want to do together? Where do you want to go? What memories do you want to create?

Once you have a good idea of what you want, it’s time to start planning.

Prioritizing for Productivity and Peace

The key to a successful summer is planning and prioritizing. You need to be realistic about what you can accomplish, and you need to make sure you’re scheduling time for both your business and your family.

Start by blocking out time for your must-dos. These are the things that have to get done, like client calls, content creation, and any other essential tasks. Then, start filling in the rest of your calendar with the things you want to do. This could include things like family vacations, day trips to the beach, and time for yourself to relax and recharge.

It’s also important to be flexible. Things will come up, and your plans will change. That’s okay! Just be willing to adjust your schedule as needed. And remember, it’s okay to say no to things. You can’t do it all, so focus on what’s most important to you.

Making Time for YOU

As a mom entrepreneur, it’s easy to put yourself last on the to-do list. But it’s important to make time for yourself, too. Even if it’s just a few minutes each day, schedule some time for self-care. This could include things like exercise, meditation, reading, or taking a bath. Taking care of yourself will help you be more productive and present for your family. And the last thing you want is to get to the end of the summer feeling like you took care of everyone but you.

Asking for (and Accepting) Help

You don’t have to do it all alone. There are plenty of resources available to help you balance your business and your family. Consider hiring a babysitter or mother’s helper for a few hours a week. This will give you some time to focus on your work without having to worry about the kids.

You can also outsource some of your tasks. There are virtual assistants who can help with things like social media, email marketing, and bookkeeping. This will free up your time so you can focus on the things that only you can do.

And don’t forget to ask for help from your family and friends. They can help with things like childcare, errands, and housework.

Invest in Your Success

Remember, investing in your business doesn’t always mean spending money on courses or coaching. It can also mean investing in things that will save you time and energy, like childcare, housekeeping, grocery delivery, or meal prep services.

The key is to create the space and time you need for your priorities and then use your available time as efficiently and effectively as possible. When you do that, you can have a successful summer—one where you make progress in your business and have plenty of fun with your family.
